Comic Cover Of The Week: Harley Quinn And Power Girl #5

Welcome my comic collecting cohorts to another new comics Wednesday, and this weeks spotlight of excellence falls upon yet another Amanda Conner masterpiece – “Harley Quinn and Power Girl #5.” Comic book artist and writer extraordinaire Amanda Conner has long been a favourite of Precinct1313, after first discovering her work in the Terra mini-series in 2008, and then being blown away by her 12 issue run on the Power Girl ongoing series in 2009.

Amanda Conner studied at the famed Kubert school in New Jersey, where she cited Joe Kubert and Frank Miller as her main influences. After graduating she began her artistic career with Archie and Marvel comics, before moving on to work for Claypool Comics and then to Harris Comics to work on their popular Vampirella series in 1991.

Her career has gone from strength to strength since that time, with Conner taking the writing as well as artistic reins on many of DC’s popular characters, predominantly Harley Quinn and most things Power Girl related.

      • Thank you for the well wishes. 🙂
I’m going to need quite a lot of them in the next few month’s but eventually all will be well. Hopefully. 🙂 🙂
Before I forget to ask you again, do you still have your other blog of the very interesting photo’s you take? 🙂
I adore that blog of yours too but I never see it in my reader feed…

      • I do have the other blog Sass, though I don’t update it that often due to time constraints. I do have a load of new photos to upload though and I shall probably do that in the next few days. 🙂 It may even include a video or two I took recently at our very old and large river – The Exe.

      • Life plus work plus blogging is a handful so trying to keep a second blog going too for sure would be difficult.. 🙂
But hooray!! I’ll be keeping my eye’s peeled for your next upload. Because it never shows up in my reader I’ll keep checking in via your link on this blog. You’ve some major talent in photography too my friend! (And I am still looking forward to when you are ready to release your own comic book. 🙂 )

      • Sorry to hear that. It doesn’t seem to matter where a person lives anymore, the economy sucks badly everywhere. I hope you are okay and aren’t overdoing it.. Yes, please do tag/message me mon ami. I haven’t been up to blogging so am taking a break but I still am doing my best to keep up with reading my absolute favorite blogs. 🙂
(Oh, originally I had my blog posts set to close the comments down after 5 days but I recently removed that so you and a few others can tag me for any reason. ) 🙂

      • Things aren’t great over here in the UK financially at the moment for a lot of people unfortunately Sass, but things are OK for me overall thanks 🙂 Still Winter has almost come and I love this time of year so there’s always that my friend 🙂

  3. I believe it B. Hopefully time flies bye quickly for you & the economy picks up sooner than later so you can go back to working your one job.
I practically live on yogurt and blueberries. Went to pick up some yogurt the other day & came home with nothing b/c the price went up from $2.50 to $6 a tub. For the cheap crappy stuff! Never mind the good healthy yogurt.
    😦
Another thing, I sometimes hate it that my blog ended up being stuck in the “beauty” category. I am expected to keep pumping out product reviews which means buying product after product. Besides not needing all of those products I just cannot afford to do it anymore. That’s fine if my fellow beauty bloggers can afford to do what they call “Hauls and monthly giveaways.” But I can’t & won’t.
Ohhh I love winter too!! 🙂 We just had our first snow of the year on the 2nd and it was gorgeous!!! While most would disagree with both of us, (which who cares) Winter is the most beautiful time of the year. Plus I love having my windows cracked open a bit at night so the room is cold yet one is delightfully cozy under the blankets. I remember how cold it can get on your side of the pond and nothing any better than to be snuggled in some warm blankets. 🙂
Btw The Cure is headed this way next year! Unfortunately they aren’t coming to Canada. 😦
Their fan base is still huge over here so in my opinion they should have been coming to Canada. Sure they have a fan base in the USA but not like they do up here…

      • Agreed!! Winter is the loveliest time of the year. Period! It’s the rest of the world that is backwards! Which oh well because that means we get to have the winter god or goddess all to ourselves. 😍😊
