“Why do you do this to me DC… why!?” *shakes fist angrily at sky* “I mean, don’t I already buy enough of your monthly comics, trades, statues, t-shirts, action figures, posters, toys etc, without you tempting me with yet another astonishing piece of cover art on a title that isn’t even included in my mammoth monthly haul!”
Oh hi there, you may have caught me having a slight rant there… sorry about that, but you see I have just got back from my bi-monthly visit to the local comic-book emporium to pick up my staggeringly huge pile of monthly titles (I actually buy so many that whenever the shop’s proprietor sees me coming, he smiles with contented glee at the prospect of closing the shop early because I have almost wiped him out of DC merchandise… again!) Now, usually after handing over my life savings to the comic-book guy, I peruse the shelves before leaving, and what do I spot… a sensational Starfire cover on this months Teen Titans, dammit, it’s Starfire which means I am under an obligation to buy it… *sobs into wallet*
Don’t get me wrong, I really do like the Teen Titans, but I just don’t have enough money, time, or space to buy everything, so certain monthlies I have to begrudgingly let go, and Titans is one of those… yet, I love the character of Starfire so much, that I am predisposed to buy literally everything that she’s involved in. Luckily this specific Titans issue is a standalone title, a one shot story, meaning there is no need to read the previous fifteen issues to understand what in X’Hal is going on… so, phew!
The other reason, apart from the sterling cover that made me HAVE to buy this particular Titans issue, is the fact that one of her co-creators… the legendary Marv Wolfman is the writer for this issue, and ooh, it’s a doozy, believe me…
An unseen villain has taken over the citizens of San Francisco with one target in mind… Starfire! Can Kori and her teammates figure out a cure for the masses before they lose control of their minds and bodies forever? Find out in this one shot epic by the mythical Marv Wolfman!

Don’t Fret Batfans, Ben Affleck Is The Batman…
Rumours do not make for great news, let’s be honest. I have to wonder how some of the larger geek websites (read: corporate… though corporate and geeky are two words that really shouldn’t go together!) ever made it to the top of the proverbial nerd pile when such rookie mistakes as reporting on an ill informed rumour as if it were fact happens, especially when, less than 24 hours later they have to retract said articles after finding out that… hey guess what… IT WAS A RUMOUR! Phew!
The latest victim of inadequate fact awareness is Matt Reeves’ much anticipated upcoming adaptation of the masked manhunter – Batman. Several rumours surrounded the Dark Knight’s newest solo escapade this week, first and foremost that Batman v Superman star Ben Affleck had stepped away from the role as the Caped Crusader, and also that the movie itself was a standalone effort not tied into DC’s burgeoning shared cinematic universe, thankfully neither were true.
In response director Matt Reeves took to twitter to answer the rumour mill:
To clarify the point, Reeves’ Batman adaptation retains Ben Affleck as its lead, and will be part of the larger DC extended universe, but, it will primarily be a movie about Batman… no surprise there then considering IT’S A BATMAN MOVIE!! If dearly departed 60’s Bat actor Adam West was still with us he would definitely be reaching into his utility belt for his Anti-Rumour Bat Spray about now!
Raging Joker!? Legendary Director Martin Scorsese In Talks To Produce A Joker Origin Movie…
The Joker is quite possibly the most infamous comic villain of all time, and has seen many onscreen interpretations of his maniacal character over the decades, from Cesar Romero’s 60’s version through to the more recent Jared Leto rendering. Warner Bros are currently in talks with legendary film director Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Departed) to produce an origin tale for the clown prince of crime… a highly unexpected but rather awesome piece of news indeed!
Because the film will delve back into The Joker’s past, a younger actor will be portraying the mirthful maniac, which obviously precludes Jared Leto from reprising his role. But fear not Leto-Joker fans (myself included here) Jared has confirmed that he will be stepping out as the murderous maniacal maestro once again in a new movie that will centre on Mr J and his long suffering partner in madness Harley Quinn in what Warner Bros are calling a “Criminal Love Story”. I’m envisioning Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers” with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis’ roles recast as Harley and her puddin’… now that would be cool!
Titans Live Action Series Has Found Its Starfire…
We absolutely adore Starfire here in Precinct1313, which you probably already realise if you’re long time reader of the site. And when news hit that DC are in the process of creating a live action television series based upon the iconic team of teen superheroes, we were overjoyed at the idea of Koriand’r getting her first non animated debut on the small screen, and now it’s a definite reality as “24: Legacy” star Anna Diop has been cast in the role of the Tamaranean Princess.
The Titans series is being produced by sensational scribe Geoff Johns and TV writer/producer Greg Berlanti, and will debut on DC’s upcoming digital showcase channel. Anna will join already announced fellow cast member Teagan Croft, the Australian actress cast as the mystical Raven. Excitement overload in three… two…

Great Hera! New Wonder Woman Trailers Are Fantastic…
“Suffering Sappho” do you realise, my amazing Amazonian associates, that we are just a mere 34 days away from the release of the most important film in female Superhero history! That’s right, Gal Gadot’s starring role as the original and most influential female comic-book character of all time approaches, and we are feverish with anticipation!! To really hype up our excitement (not sure if possible, already so excited, our heads may explode!) Warner Bros have released two new trailers showcasing the upcoming legendary film, and by ‘The Horns Of The Mighty Minotaur’ they look fantastic, bathe in their awesomeness my friends…
Teen Titans Live Action Is A GO!…
That’s right, fellow fans of fantastic fiction, the long awaited live action TV series of DC’s premier teen Superheroes and sizzling sidekicks is finally on it’s way! Not only that, but it will be headlining DC’s new digital streaming service alongside season three of ‘Young Justice’. There were plans for TNT to originally produce a show based upon the tremendous team of teens, but this was scrapped, most likely in favour of this new show, which is being produced by superstar comic scribe Geoff Johns, and DC/CW engineer Greg Berlanti. The press release also mentions a few of the team’s line up, which will include – Nightwing, Starfire (yes, yes, YESSSS!!) and Raven. We shall bring you more news on this as we hear it.

Welcome fellow agents of Precinct1313 to the inaugural episode of “World’s Finest”, this series will be introducing you to our favourite convocation of comic-book characters, of, all, time!
Every episode we will cast our celestial spotlight on one of our most treasured Superheroes, Supervillains, Costumed Crimefighters, Dimension Dwelling Demons, oh and… Super-Pets (because everyone loves Krypto, right!?)
So let’s begin our passionately personal preference of peerlessly popular paragons with… Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran, or more popularly known as “Starfire“.
So take your seats fellow fans of fantastic fiction and let’s acquaint ourselves with this episode’s extra special guest star…
Precinct1313: Hi Koriand’r, and thanks for joining us at Precinct1313 for our first episode of World’s Finest.
Starfire: Thanks so much for inviting me, it sure is an impressive structure.
Precinct1313: It surely is a marvellous mystery of malevolently malefic mansions.
Starfire: Uh, do you often talk like that?
Precinct1313: It’s a, uh, thing I do, alliteration is king here.
Starfire: Well I’m all for individuality, I am an alien to this world after all.
Precinct1313: You are indeed, from the planet Tamaran, I believe.
Starfire: That’s correct, a beautiful peaceful planet, that is, up until it’s destruction by The Blight.
Precinct1313: An awful tragedy, yet you seem to have found your feet here on Earth.
Starfire: I have always had my feet, they weren’t here on your planet but at the end of my legs.
Precinct1313: Uh, it’s sort of like a saying, you know, an aphorism…
Starfire: Aphorism? Ooooh, are they like related to the Aphorians from Quaxxel 7?
Precinct1313: I have literally no idea what you are talking about.
Starfire: Sigh… yeah, that happens a lot, did I mention I came from another planet.
Precinct1313: Yes you did, anyway can we start by asking actually who, in DC’s pantheon of creators was your particular favourite chronicler of your amazing adventures?
Starfire: Oooooh, we’re really breaking that fourth wall here huh, I would say,by far, the astonishing Amanda Conner, such an amazing talent.
Precinct1313: Agreed, she really is fantastic. Now, your initial introduction to the world of DC was in 1980 in – DC Comics Presents #26, did you feel nervous during your debut?
Starfire: Mmmmm, not really, I mean I was lucky to have been created by two of comicdom’s most prolific architects, marvelous Marv Wolfman and glorious George Perez.
Precinct1313: Ah yes indeed, they really are comic book royalty, if I can maybe get a little more personal, during your time with the tenaciously terrific Teen Titans, you were engaged in a rather passionate liaison with fellow member Nightwing, also known as Dick Grayson, former Robin to the Batman. Do you miss those halcyon days from your past?
Starfire: I love Nightwing, he was my first real relationship here on your beautiful blue planet, but I don’t lament what was, I celebrate what is.
Precinct1313: Mmmmm, profound. You recently starred in a 13 issue series by the aforementioned Amanda Conner and astounding artist Emanuela Lupacchino, it has actually become one of my favourite comic book runs of all time, and was a particular hit with your fans, to what do you attribute it’s success?
Starfire: Mainly down to Amanda’s peerless writing talent, I find she knows me better than most creators, I mean, it’s almost like, she’s inside my head.
Precinct1313: Well, she sort of is…
Starfire: Oh yeah, ha ha, of course, comic book character and all. Sorry, it’s not too often I have to breach that fourth wall, it takes some getting used to.
Precinct1313: I understand, well Koriand’r it’s been fantastic having you as a guest on World’s Finest and we wish you all the best for your future in crime fighting capers and planet saving escapades.
Starfire: It’s been a literal blast, uh, how do I get back to my reality from here again.
Precinct1313: Yours is the second universe on the left.
Starfire: Ooooh, *hugs*.
Welcome my comic collecting cohorts to another instalment of Comic Cover Of The Week, and this episode our spotlight of the sublime falls upon “Starfire #8” and yet another stunning piece by the amazing talent that is Amanda Conner.
“Lovers and other Dangers” is the concluding episode began last issue that sees former Teen Titan sweethearts, Kori and Dick Grayson sharing a tender moment together before all hell breaks loose. Kori has had to deal with many dangerous adversaries since her new series began, from murderous bounty hunters to devastating hurricanes, but her biggest test may yet come from having to choose between her former beau and new love interest Sol.
The dynamic duo of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti produce yet another fantastic issue that focuses as much on Kori’s relationships and emotional stability, as it does on typical Superhero tropes, which is one of the reasons why this is still currently the stand-out ongoing comic series for me, the other being Emanuela Lupacchino’s exquisite artwork, beautifully realised as ever with vibrant colours that make each and every panel literally jump off the page.
Starfire #8 is available at your local comic-book emporium right now. Written by: Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. Cover by: Amanda Conner. Interior art by: Emanuela Lupacchino. Variant cover by: Dave Taylor.
The space year of 2015 comes to a close, fellow agents of Precinct1313, and with its inevitable demise comes our 13 favourite moments from across the comic-book, movie and videogame spectrum.
No.13: The Dark Knight Returns!
After a 14 year hiatus, veteran comic book creator Frank Miller returned to his genre bending masterpiece Dark Knight saga with a third instalment, titled DKIII: The Master Race. This final (maybe) chapter takes place chronologically three years after 2001 mini-series “The Dark Knight Strikes Again,” and continues to chronicle an ageing Caped Crusader and his allies in an increasingly violent and turbulent Gotham.
Thematically this series picks up from the ‘Strikes Again’, but this time Miller has brought along some fellow superstar creators for the intense and dark ride, as he is joined by, writer Brian Azzarello and artists, Andy Kubert, Jim Lee, and original collaborator Klaus Janson. Like its previous instalments, DKIII concentrates on the Batman as a symbol, an almost mythological character of inspiration and a catalyst for the weak and oppressed of Gotham.
No.12: Resident Evil Games Are… Good Again!!
2015 is the year that survival-horror veteran Resident Evil became great once more, as Capcom released not one, but two terrifyingly awesome instalments in the long running zombie franchise. After the awfulness of Resident Evil 6, even die-hard fans weren’t necessarily looking forward to whatever would come next in the once predominant horror gaming series. The sixth game in the franchise took a downward spiral into bland third person action/shooter territory, leaving behind most of what made the earlier games so much fun to play, namely the tension, spookiness and survival aspects.
Then in early 2015, an HD remake of the original game digitally graced home consoles, with the same intense and creepy vibe of the original, but with much improved visuals, soundtrack and most definitely improved in the acting department (though Jill still, humorously remained – “The Master Of Unlocking” .) And less than a month later Resident Evil Revelations 2 was released episodically across all formats, initially digitally only, though later on disc. This 4 part series was a hark back to classic Resi , tense and horrific with much more limited supplies and the difficulty switched up a notch from the mediocrity that was Resi 6. Capcom redeemed themselves in my eyes after the Resi 6 debacle, and I look forward to their next game with bated breath, the much touted remake of most fans favourite in the series, Resident Evil 2… can’t wait.
No.11: Starfire Goes Solo…
Everyone’s favourite flame haired, orange skinned alien princess finally flies solo in her own, rather marvellous, monthly series. Tamaranean native Koriand’r most recently starred alongside one time Robin, Jason Todd now known as violent masked vigilante The Red Hood, and former Green Arrow sidekick Roy Harper, aka Arsenal, in the highly recommended series “Red Hood and the Outlaws.” With the shake-up of DC recently with “DC You” Koriand’r was finally deemed a character strong enough to hold her own monthly series, and the creative reins were handed to the married, dynamic duo of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, to great effect.
The series has been a joy to read so far, we are huge fans of Starfire here in the Precinct and could think of no better team than Conner and Palmiotti to be given control of the series, but what has really drawn us into the series the most are the sublime visuals rendered by Emanuela Lupacchino, each panel is a masterpiece and the book is worth reading for just this alone. This has been standout my favourite comic series so far in 2015, and I’ll just say it’s been a great year of comics, which makes Kori’s solo debut even more impressive.
No.10: Jared Leto Cast As The Joker…
Well dye my hair green, bleach my skin and call me “puddin” if this isn’t just a superlative casting choice, Jared Leto as the Clown Prince Of Crime!?… oh hell yes! The term “Method Actor” could of been created for Mr Leto, as he is one of the most dedicated character actors you could ever come across, his casting in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie as the Joker, has me very excited indeed.
No.09: Mad Max – Fury Road…
Now then, I know that this is going to appear on a lot of end of the year lists, but if you had told me a year ago it would be on mine, I’d have thought you were the mad one himself! You see, as much as I like the director George Miller, and the acting duo of Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, not to mention, I adore the original Mad Max trilogy, what I don’t like are lazy remakes of classic films from my youth, and for a long time that’s what I thought this was, I was sooooo wrong.
The film is a marvel to behold, an almost perfect blend of real time practical effects, mixed with limited but extremely well implemented CGI. Tom Hardy gives a good performance as the antipodean crazy ex-cop, Charlize Theron is fantastic as Furiosa, but it really is the crazy action and fantastic directing style of George Miller that are the stars here. Shiny and Chrome indeed!
No.08: New X-Files Series Begins Filming…
I love the X-Files, I have been a super fan since it first began way back in 1993, my interest in the unknown and supernatural initially drew me into the show but it was the performances by the leads, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and the increasingly emotional and complex relationship of their characters – Mulder and Scully that kept me coming back to the show time and time again.
Of course the writing was top notch, the episodes were always extremely well made and directed, but ultimately it was that relationship between the main players that drove the series to the cult and beyond status that it now has. Let’s hope the magic is still there over 13 years later, when the much anticipated tenth season finally appears in January 2016.
No.07: Supergirl Soars Once More…
Kara Zor-El is awesome, one of the most iconic female Superheroes of all time, Superman‘s cousin has been with us now since her initial introduction in 1959, created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. Originally hailing from Argo city, a fragment of the planet Krypton that had managed to survive destruction.
She is one of the few female comic book characters who has appeared on the big and small screen several times in the past few decades (only Catwoman has had more live action appearances.) Played by Helen Slater in the 1984 movie, by actress Laura Vandervoort in TV series Smallville (strangely enough, Laura was born the same year the original movie was released) And now as of 2015, we have a new girl of steel, Melissa Benoist has taken up the cape and red boots of the seminal character in what has become a fantastic and fun interpretation, another quality Superhero show that stands tall amongst its peers.
No.06: Margot Robbie Brings Harley Quinn To Life…
Mistress of Mayhem, Harley Quinn is one of those characters that everyone loves, but have always believed would be almost impossible to bring to live action successfully. There have been attempts, the short lived Birds Of Prey series had a version of the character played by Mia Sara, who, while okay in the role, didn’t really capture Harley’s perfect blend of crazy cool and sociopathic tendency.
Then we got a glimpse at actress Margot Robbie in the Suicide Squad trailers, everything about her portrayal seems to scream Harley, she looks perfect and I have high hopes for the character, she is definitely the most anticipated of all the Suicide Squad members so her portrayal will be of paramount importance to the film itself (along with her ‘puddin’, the Joker of course.)
No.05: Twin Peaks Season 3 Announced…
I’ll admit, I am both elated and worried at the idea of Twin Peaks returning for a third series, I love Twin Peaks, it is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite TV show of all time, but the perfection of the originals will be very hard to recapture I believe. Though this is David Lynch we’re talking about, a ‘mad genius’ of a director and film maker and I have adored virtually everything he has ever put out, so there is hope. Please be good… please!!
No.04: Convergence Was… Awesome!
DC Comics are the master of the epic crossover series, their “Crisis” stories have always been bombastic reads of monumental proportions. The more recent Blackest Night maxi-series was also phenomenal, but for me, it was this year’s “Convergence” that really blew my veritable bat-socks off!
Convergence was a limited series that released weekly and ran between April and May. The story span out of two earlier mini-series – “New 52 – Futures End” and “Earth 2 – World’s End.” The storyline follows Braniac as he gathers Cities and their inhabitants from across different timelines and alternate Earths. Really there aren’t enough superlatives to sum up this fantastic mini-series, all I’ll say is buy it, read it, thank me later…
No.03: Suicide Squad Trailer…
DC Comics‘ ultimate team of anti-hero badasses finally achieve cinematic glory in 2016, courtesy of David Ayer (director of Sabotage and Fury) in what looks to be a gritty, violent adaptation of the comic book classic. Where this movie differs from all other Superhero films of recent years is the fact that it offers up a different perspective on the comic book adaptation, it focuses solely on the bad guys, the Supervillains and the crazies.
Director David Ayer is well known for his dark and gritty cop thrillers, and is the perfect choice for this live action version of the popular comic series. Peruse the trailer below and bask in the glory of seminal DC characters that include – Harley Quinn, Katana, Enchantress and Deadshot, and lest we forget, what may turn out to be the biggest draw of the film… Jared Leto’s Joker.
No.02: Wonder Woman Solo Movie Begins Production…
It may of come to your attention that we quite like Wonder Woman here in the Precinct, so we are rather excited that her long awaited silver screen appearance has finally begun production, and in the UK no less. Gal Gadot will make her first appearance as the amazing Amazon in March 2016 “Batman v Superman” movie before her 2017 solo film. Seriously it is about bloody time that the most iconic female comic book character of all time got her own movie, and with director Patty Jenkins at the helm and actress Gal looking every bit the Amazon Princess, I for one, cannot wait.
No.01: Batman v Superman Trailers Finally Released…
Well this is it, with the trailers finally released, and the epic nature revealed, you just have to prepare yourself for two things. 1. What could be, quite possibly, The Greatest Superhero Movie Of All Time and… 2. The cinematic debut of the original, and still greatest female Superhero. With these two imperatives in mind watch the trailer below, and then weep for the fact that the biggest cinematic event in DC Comics… nay, in history, is still three months away…
Happy New Year everyone…
Welcome my comic collecting cohorts to another “Comic Cover Of The Week,” and this time our spotlight of the splendiferous falls upon “Starfire #7” and another wonderful piece of art by the amazing Amanda Conner.
This issue, old flames reunite when Dick Grayson crashes a cruise liner party in search of some terrorists selling illegal tech and unexpectedly runs into his once, long term love Koriand’r (Starfire), who is attending the party with new beau Sol. The former Teen Titans’ members and lovers were hot stuff together throughout most of the eighties and nineties, and their serendipitous reconciliation is a poignant one, especially for Kori who believed that Dick had previously been killed.

Comic Cover Of The Week celebrates DC’s Looney Tunes variant month with this stunning Emanuella Lupacchino alternate cover of everyone’s favourite fiery haired alien Princess entangled with WB’s parisian striped skunk Pepe Le Pew. Malodorous mammal Pepe is constantly on the hunt for “L’amour” and it seems he may have struck gold with the red-hot incandescence that is Starfire.
DC’s heroes this month find themselves teaming up with classic WB characters like Wile Coyote, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Road Runner in over two dozen amazing variant covers. Wonder Woman singing opera with Elmer Fudd, Sinestro plotting world domination with Wile Coyote, and Catwoman sizing up Tweety Pie are just a few of the awesome alternates available from this crazy cover extravaganza.

Welcome once more my comic collecting cohorts to another instalment of Comic Cover Of The Week, and this week our spotlight of excellence falls upon “Titans Hunt #1” In 2011, following on from the conclusion of the Flashpoint crossover saga, DC Comics cancelled all of its ongoing comic series and debuted 52 new comic series. This was essentially a massive reboot of their seventy five plus year universe of characters, that had over the decades become embroiled in continuity problems. DC also saw this as a way to reintroduce their mighty mortals to a new audience and in essence just start again from the beginning.
Some classic versions of characters and teams were confined to history during this huge shake up, with the original Teen Titans being one such casualty. With the current rebooted version of the Titans comprising of, Red Robin, Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark,) Raven, Bunker and Beast Boy, the previous team never apparently existed, or did they? It has long been alluded to in sundry titles over the years that there was a previous group of Metas that also called themselves the Titans, and may have included Dick Grayson and the original Wonder Girl, Donna Troy amongst its numbers. Of course no explanation has been given on how this is possible due to the New 52 shake up and erasing of the previous timeline… until now.
Titans Hunt is a 12 issue maxi-series by Dan Abnett that will explain how exactly this is possible and also bring us back into the fold of the original and well loved Titans of old. Initial focus of the storyline is with Lilith the telepath, who is resolute on re-uniting what she sees as the original version of the team, to help her in defeating a malevolent evil from her past, and somehow only the pre New 52 Titans can help.

New comics Wednesday is upon us once more, and this weeks cover spotlight falls upon Starfire #2, another magnificent piece by the always astounding Amanda Conner. Even though we are only into the second issue of this brand new series starring everyone’s favourite alien princess, I am already hooked. Awesome cover aside, the story itself is an amusing and heartwarming tale of an outsider coming to terms with her sense of place in a distinctly different culture. Conner and Palmiotti’s narrative is hilarious as ever, easily as funny as their fantastic run on the Harley Quinn series, and the interior art by Emanuela Lupacchino is absolutely stunning.

The pick of this week’s comic covers stars everyone’s favourite alien princess, the inimitable Starfire. Brought to you by the talent behind the extremely successful Harley Quinn series, the amazing Amanda Conner and her fellow comic book creator (and husband) Jimmy Palmiotti. It’s a new beginning for Koriand’r (Starfire) former Teen Titan, and one time member of the Outlaws, as she seeks the advice of Stella Gomez, Sheriff of Key West, on the best place to live now that she is making her own way in the world.
Finally, Koriand’r gets her own series. As much as I enjoyed her part in the “Red Hood and the Outlaws” run (which comes highly recommended, by the way) I have always thought that as a character, Starfire is more than capable of carrying her own ongoing solo comic. And here it is, brought to you by two of comics most popular and talented creators. If you haven’t read any of her previous adventures, now is the perfect time to acquaint yourself with DC’s fiery alien warrior princess, with this brand new monthly series.

Comic-book love that is! We are now just 2 short weeks away from the restructuring of the DC Universe, with 24 new ongoing titles to be added to the 25 most popular current comic series produced by DC. The “New 52” branding will be removed from the top of the comics from June, to usher in a new chapter for the World’s oldest and most prestigious producer of Superhero comics.
And there’s more, fellow fans of fantastic fiction, not only do we get 24 new kick-arse titles to enjoy, we also get the return of legendary comic-book creators, Garth Ennis and Bryan Hitch to the DC Universe, who alongside new recruit and one time Marvel mainstay John Romita Jr, will help pave the way to an even more expanded, inclusive and accessible take on the World’s mightiest mortals.
So if you have been hesitant of dipping your toes in DC’s sea of titles, because of lore heavy decades of story-telling, June will be the perfect time to start your collection. Plus with the plethora of absolutely amazing television shows based on DC characters such as Arrow, The Flash, Constantine and upcoming new shows like Supergirl, not to mention next years Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad movies, it’s never been a better time to become a DC superfan. Welcome aboard everyone, next stop… Amazing Comics!
Network President of TNT, Kevin Reilly gave an update yesterday on the long in development live action TV series of DC’s popular Teen Titans. Reilly stated that, “The television landscape right now is well serviced on the superhero front, so we need to find a space for this show to inhabit. What we and co-writer, Akiva Goldsmith, really want to do is stay true to the source material, this really was a groundbreaking comic when it first began”
Reilly went on to say, “There were consequences to things that happened in the comic, there was the first superhero to become an addict (Roy Harper, Green Arrow’s former sidekick “Speedy“), plus a coming of age story for Robin, who feels that Batman has betrayed him”
Exciting and interesting news indeed, fellow DC fanatics. Apparently the show will focus mainly on DC characters, Barbara Gordon (currently unknown whether she’ll be Oracle or Batgirl), Hawk and Dove, Raven, Starfire, and Robin.
This weeks captivating comic cover is; Convergence: New Teen Titans #1, this particular issue has a real nostalgic resonance for me, starring my personal favourite line up of this classic super team. A return to the mid 70’s version of the Teen Titans, Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, Donna Troy and Beast boy, the heroes of Crisis on Infinite Earths, come together to take on the Tangent Universe’s Doom Patrol.
The amazing cover is drawn by one of my favourite artists of all time, the fantastic Nicola Scott, and is written by the legendary Marv Wolfman, this is certainly an issue no DC fan should be without!

Convergence is coming, DC Comics maxi-series, two month long comic-book crossover looks set to change the face of The New 52 forever. Convergence spans every era of DC characters, resurrecting old favourites and showcasing classic heroes and villains from halcyon days gone by. Ted Kord returning as the Blue Beetle, Azrael donning the mantle of the Batman and Donna Troy as a key member of the Teen Titans, these and many more stories will be relayed through this huge ongoing two month saga, but wait, there’s more…
On June 3rd, DC will be launching 24 new series alongside the 25 classic comics returning after their two month long Convergence hiatus. Co-Publisher of DC, Dan Didio explained that, “This heralds a new era for the DC Universe, allowing us to publish something for everyone and be more expansive and modern in our approach to story-telling”. Exciting times ahead indeed fellow DC fans, it seems that the New 52 logo will also be removed from atop the comics, cementing this interesting change in direction.
New titles announced are: Batman Beyond, Bizarro, Bat-Mite, Black Canary, Constantine-Hellblazer, Cyborg, Dark Universe, Green Lantern-Lost Army, Doomed, Earth 2- Society, Dr Fate, Harley Quinn and Power Girl (awesome!), Justice League of America, Justice League 3001, Martian Manhunter, Midnighter, Mystic U, Omega Men, Prez, Red Hood- Arsenal, Robin-Son of Batman, Section 8, Starfire (amazing!) and We are Robin.
