Warner Bros have released two new trailers showcasing the upcoming legendary film, and by ‘The Horns Of The Mighty Minotaur’ they look fantastic, bathe in their awesomeness my friends…
Teen Titans Live Action Is A GO!…
That’s right, fellow fans of fantastic fiction, the long awaited live action TV series of DC’s premier teen Superheroes and sizzling sidekicks is finally on it’s way! Not only that, but it will be headlining DC’s new digital streaming service alongside season three of ‘Young Justice’. There were plans for TNT to originally produce a show based upon the tremendous team of teens, but this was scrapped, most likely in favour of this new show, which is being produced by superstar comic scribe Geoff Johns, and DC/CW engineer Greg Berlanti. The press release also mentions a few of the team’s line up, which will include – Nightwing, Starfire (yes, yes, YESSSS!!) and Raven. We shall bring you more news on this as we hear it.
Why not join us again next time friends, for more Week In Geek
Welcome once more my comic collecting cohorts to another instalment of Comic Cover Of The Week, and this week our spotlight of excellence falls upon “Titans Hunt #1” In 2011, following on from the conclusion of the Flashpoint crossover saga, DC Comics cancelled all of its ongoing comic series and debuted 52 new comic series. This was essentially a massive reboot of their seventy five plus year universe of characters, that had over the decades become embroiled in continuity problems. DC also saw this as a way to reintroduce their mighty mortals to a new audience and in essence just start again from the beginning.
Some classic versions of characters and teams were confined to history during this huge shake up, with the original Teen Titans being one such casualty. With the current rebooted version of the Titans comprising of, Red Robin, Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark,) Raven, Bunker and Beast Boy, the previous team never apparently existed, or did they? It has long been alluded to in sundry titles over the years that there was a previous group of Metas that also called themselves the Titans, and may have included Dick Grayson and the original Wonder Girl, Donna Troy amongst its numbers. Of course no explanation has been given on how this is possible due to the New 52 shake up and erasing of the previous timeline… until now.
Titans Hunt is a 12 issue maxi-series by Dan Abnett that will explain how exactly this is possible and also bring us back into the fold of the original and well loved Titans of old. Initial focus of the storyline is with Lilith the telepath, who is resolute on re-uniting what she sees as the original version of the team, to help her in defeating a malevolent evil from her past, and somehow only the pre New 52 Titans can help.
Titans Hunt #1 is available at your local comic-book emporium right now. Written by Dan Abnett. Cover and interior art by Paulo Siqueira. Variant cover by Tony Daniel.
Network President of TNT, Kevin Reilly gave an update yesterday on the long in development live action TV series of DC’s popular Teen Titans. Reilly stated that, “The television landscape right now is well serviced on the superhero front, so we need to find a space for this show to inhabit. What we and co-writer, Akiva Goldsmith, really want to do is stay true to the source material, this really was a groundbreaking comic when it first began”
Reilly went on to say, “There were consequences to things that happened in the comic, there was the first superhero to become an addict (Roy Harper, Green Arrow’s former sidekick “Speedy“), plus a coming of age story for Robin, who feels that Batman has betrayed him”
Exciting and interesting news indeed, fellow DC fanatics. Apparently the show will focus mainly on DC characters, Barbara Gordon (currently unknown whether she’ll be Oracle or Batgirl), Hawk and Dove, Raven, Starfire, and Robin.
On November 12th celebrate 50 years in the company of the World’s greatest Superheroes’ sidekicks: The Teen Titans. That’s right friends it has been half a century since The Brave and the Bold #54 brought together Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad for the first time, sidekicks of Batman, Flash and Aquaman respectively. Proving popular they eventually formed into The Teen Titans for The Brave and the Bold #60 and added a new member Donna Troy better known at the time as Wonder Girl.
It wasn’t until the early 80’s that the team of teens really took off though, under the guidance of two of comic’s biggest names: writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez, bolstering the roster with some new names, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy. From here their march into comic book history was cemented and they became one of the most popular team of Superheroes ever created. Available at your local comic book emporium on November the 12th will be a hardcover collection of classic stories from their 50 years including tales from – Marv Wolfman, Geoff Johns and Bob Haney amongst many others, weighing in at 400 pages in length and in hardcover format, this is a must buy for fans of Titans everywhere.
