DC Comics Launching: “DC Super-Hero Girls” Line In Winter 2015
This coming Winter, DC Comics and their parent company Warner Brothers, are teaming up to launch “DC Super-Hero Girls”, a new line up of comics, animation and collectables designed specifically for the younger girl market. This new line will follow DC’s classic female characters prior to them discovering the full extent of their various powers.
DC Entertainment’s President, Diane Nelson said in a statement yesterday that, “DC Comics is the home to the world’s most iconic and well known Super-heroes, that includes Wonder Woman, Batgirl and Supergirl, I am pleased that we are able to offer these relatable and strong role models in a unique way, just for girls”.
DC Comics have the largest roster of female Super-heroes in the industry and though they already publish a fairly large number of female led comic books, they are firmly more for an older readership, comics portraying strong female archetypes for younger readers are in short supply, so this is a fantastic idea to draw more females into the comic book medium.
