It’s 1966 and Batmania is at its height thanks to the classic Adam West led television series, transcending borders the series also proved a massive hit in Japan and spawned its own unique take on the Caped Crusader published by Shonen and illustrated by Jiro Kuwata. The series ran for 53 issues between 1966 and 1967 and added new villains to the cast including the subtly named Lord Death Man!

Released this week by DC Comics is the first volume of three containing between them the entire 53 chapters of the manga take on the Batman, written and drawn by Jiro Kuwata. The series has already been released as a digital product by DC starting in July of this year, but this will be the first time it has been released in English in a physical tome. The graphic novel itself will be printed in the traditional Japanese format which reads right to left, Volume one weighs in at 352 pages and encompasses the first 19 chapters.
