Dead or Alive is punching and kicking its way onto next-gen machines
We are huge Tecmo/Koei fans here at Precinct1313, especially their Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series of games, and with the advent of the new consoles, the inevitable port of the seminal one-on-one fighting game is coming. Tecmo are currently holding their DOA-2014 ultimate fighting tournament, and it was here that they announced the game will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 next year. Nothing has been shown as of yet, but expect the usual upgrades to the graphic engines – even though this is still one of the best looking games on last generation machines (check out the in-game screenshot above…it still looks fantastic)
The Dead or Alive series of games started life in the arcades and on the Sega Saturn, utilising Sega’s own Virtua Fighter engine, created by Tomonobu Itagaki, former head of development house – Team Ninja. First appearing in the arcades in 1996, the games incorporates multiple stage fighting arenas and an intuitive counter system, plus a massive roster of martial arts protagonists, both male and female utilising a large range of differing fighting styles. Any other DOA fans out there?…our favourite characters are Ninja-Ayane and Karate expert-Hitomi, please feel free to comment below who you favour, fighting fans.
